Working closely with the National Foster Care Association (now the Fostering Network), we identified that normal home contents insurance does not cover many of the risks and costs faced by foster carers.
Under the Fostering Services Regulations 2002, Local Authorities are obliged to ensure that they have provision in place to compensate foster carers in the event of damage to their home or property caused by the young people they are looking after.
Over thirty Local Authorities now insure their foster carers through Standard Securities. From Blackpool to Bromley, social services departments and fostering agencies large and small insure over 12,000 children through us.
